How Can Post-Surgical Rehabilitation Help You?

It is important to understand that physical therapy can be a long process after surgery. The differences between the time needed for recovery between different clinics is huge, and patients should have that clearly in mind. As a result, the core of your recovery at USA Sports Medicine is doing the right exercises at the right time, with the correct balance between not enough and too much exercise. That balance will be guided by one of our expert physical therapists during the weeks and months after surgery as the program will keep evolving to help you reach your goal.

Post-Surgical Rehabilitation - USM

Our first priority is to relieve pain and help you return to your prior level of function. After surgery, it is common for people to experience some degree of pain, swelling and/or loss of range of motion. The goal of rehabilitation is to help patients overcome these issues so that they can once again live their lives without pain or restriction.

In addition to helping patients recover from the effects of surgery, physical therapy can also help improve:

  • Overall fitness
  • Muscle strength
  • Joint mobility
  • Endurance
  • Balance
  • Coordination

Rehabilitation after surgery can be a frustrating and challenging process, but our team at USA Sports will be there with you every step of the way to ensure that you reach your goals.

At USA Sports Medicine, our physical therapy specialists will help you get started on a personal rehabilitation plan that will help you recover from surgery as quickly and thoroughly as possible.

A physical therapist will create customized treatment plans based on your medical history, current health needs, and future fitness goals. Our treatment plans are comprehensive and cover all phases of a healthy recovery process. These include physical therapy programs to meet your specific needs, manual therapy to reduce pain and swelling, at-home exercises to improve range of motion, and patient education to ensure safety and good habits.

PRP has been shown to be better in at least 2 studies when compared to exercise alone (11,12)

Studies show improved pain relief, at least for the first 6 months when compared to cortisone injection – a safer alternative to a cortisone injection.

More About Post-Surgical Rehabilitation

Your body is an incredibly complex machine. Surgery is designed to fix a problem, but what happens after surgery? If you’ve had surgery, you know how difficult it can be to get back on your feet again. You may have to deal with pain and swelling, stiffness, limited range of motion, and other challenges that prevent you from completing simple, everyday activities. It can be frustrating and discouraging. You may assume that this is just something you will have to deal with for the rest of your life, but there’s good news: rehabilitation after surgery and physical therapy can help!

USA Sports Medicine has worked with some of the top surgeons in the country to develop physical therapy protocols and rehabilitation programs that get patients back to their pre-injury levels. Working with some of the top athletes in the world has given us the expertise and experience to get you through your surgery recovery as quickly as possible.

If you recently had surgery, the truth is that before you can get back to business as usual, you’ll likely need some rehabilitation and physical therapy to regain your strength, mobility, and range of motion.

The trained professionals at USA Sports Medicine can provide this assistance. With the help of a physical therapist and other specialists in our clinics, you will be able to reduce your recovery time, feel better sooner, and heal faster than you would on your own.

It all begins with a consultation with a provider of our physical therapy team. You will meet with one of our specialists to discuss your condition in detail and the treatment options available to you. Our individualized approach will help you regain range of motion, reduce pain, and assist with all other aspects of rehabilitation after surgery.

From your first visit, you will work with a team of specialists who will create a customized treatment plan to address your specific needs. We have state-of-the-art facilities and always use the latest techniques and technologies to provide you with the best possible care.

At USA Sports, we have worked with professional athletes in the NFL, NBA, and other major sports leagues for many years. We’ve also assisted athletes from a variety of disciplines, including Olympic medalists and well-known actors and artists who come to Miami to get treated by our team of physical therapists.

We encourage all prospective patients to schedule a consultation before undergoing surgery so that they are well-informed about the post-operative rehabilitation process and better equipped to reach their desired results. We also understand that you may have a few questions regarding post-operative physical therapy. We are committed to helping you at every stage of the process and will address any concerns you may have.
